Honorary members and members of merit

The Mebiosekamer is like a second living room for many Mebiots, and many members know the Mebiosekamer only as it is today. However, the Mebiosekamer has gone through a lot of changes over time. This required an awful lot of remodeling and this did not go without a hitch. Fortunately, we had our saving angel named Hanneke Kraan. Hanneke made sure that every setback in the renovation was turned into progress. She kept a close eye on everything and stayed in touch with Mebiose and the construction workers. In short, Hanneke is an important puzzle piece in the creation, maintenance and continued development of the Mebiose room. Besides that, she of course helps us whenever she can!

Ellen is a former staff member of the Biomedical Sciences program at Utrecht University. If you want to get something done at BMW or within the HvdB, you go to Ellen. She has been with the program since September 1999, so she has seen many students and Mebiose boards come and go. All these years she has been incredibly helpful to Mebiose at the administrative level, in reaching out to new students and within the HvdB. Ellen has been retired since 2023.

Jaco and Ineke are the student advisors for both BMW Bachelor students and BMS Master students and have thus already provided many students with good advice about the present and the future. In addition, students can also come to them with all kinds of personal matters. This also applies to the board members of Mebiose, with whom there is always a warm relationship. They also play a major role in providing information to high school students and introducing the new freshmen. In the past, even the organization of the annual introduction weekend, the First Year Weekend, was in their hands.

Every Biomedical Sciences student is familiar with Dr. Adri Thomas. In addition to teaching, Adri has been involved in the co-directorate for many years. Adri has also always played an important role in our walk-in and information days for high school students and likes to think along with Mebiose and the policies to be followed. The vice-Praesides have had a lot of contact with him, something that visibly benefits him. Adri is currently retired, but fortunately he still sometimes comes to speak on “student-for-a-day” events.

Fleur was the Praeses of the XXIVth board of the M.B.V. Mebiose. During her year on the board she devoted herself enormously to Mebiose, for example by introducing the taster days for high school students and by establishing the Foundation Foreign Excursion Biomedical Students Utrecht. Even the year after her year on the board, she was of great help to her successors. Even 6 years after her year on the board, she helped a lot, for example with the formation of the BEBSU Foundation by-laws and she still enthuses members to do a board year with her stories.

Ellen Satter, Carla Nieuwenhof, Eric-Duco Janssen, Frank Holstege, Edmar Weitenberg, Chris Broeren and Dennis Dooijes. These 7 individuals worked extremely hard for 2 years to lay the foundation for Mebiose and to guide the association through a turbulent 1st year. The first board had to pioneer more than 35 years ago, which resulted in Mebiose standing here more than 35 years later, with a now mature association with 800 members.

Boris was the ab Actis of the XXVII board of M.B.V. Mebiose. After his board year, he remained active within the association and has been a true support to several boards until even six years after his board year. He has been incredibly important in setting up the association’s ICT network and still dedicates himself (even late into the night or on his days off) to helping boards when needed.
