This knowledge center conducts research in the fields of cardiovascular, infectious and cancer diseases. We also conduct research into improving scientific research; for example, how do you determine whether a new diagnostic test really benefits a patient? Here we regularly involve large groups of patients inside or outside the hospital or healthy volunteers. The results of our research are then translated as far as possible into applications in daily practice (the hospital, general practice or in patients’ homes). In this way we ensure that patients inside and outside the UMC Utrecht receive optimal treatment and that people who are not ill also receive advice on a healthy way of life.
Our division is a partner in the Julius Health Centers in Leidsche Rijn, which provide General Practitioner care in the large VINEX district of Leidsche Rijn in Utrecht. In these practices, care is provided according to the very latest scientific insights and many care innovations also take place, often together with the UMC Utrecht. We also provide training for new general practitioners.
